Women In Rastafari

From the begining of the Rastafari movement, women have played a key role in it's development and acceptance around the world. Although Rasta men have stood in the forefront of the movement, it is the sistren who have been the steady heart, behind the scenes, and sometimes the leaders when it came to the upliftment and focus of the culture and its presentation to the world community. Reggae music, which is the Gabriel's horn for the movement, is dominated by the Brethren who carried it and still do carry it around the world to the children of Babylon. But it is the women in Reggae who have helped to change the role of women in the movement, the world, and the culture of the Rasta community.
